Ellen Brown is primarily a portrait photographer, shooting for brands and performers in London. Her personal work is often inspired by modern art and includes bold colours and striking set design, which she creates and builds herself, using second hand furniture and sustainable materials. The images she makes are often intimate, bold in colour with controlled lighting and dark shadows. It tackles issues such as childhood trauma, love, loss and mental health as well as her experience as a woman and feminist. Although she mainly photographs people, she has recently begun to explore still life and product photography, while working with a wide range of venues in London, which has lead to an interest in videography and visual marketing also.
